Angels in the Night

On Tuesday December 8th I will be participant in the charitable yearly event called "Angels in the Night". Angels in the Night is a community effort that delivers new purchased coats, blankets, gloves, toiletries, and other essentials to homeless shelters across 11 cities in Canada. Every December, hundreds of Angels in the Night volunteers, Invis and Mortgage Intelligence Mortgage Consultants along with their business and families hit the streets in cities across Canada from Halifax to Victoria giving to those less fortunate. In Toronto we will be helping these shelters:

• Native Child and Family Youth Shelter

• Salvation Army Gateway

• Fred Victor Centre for Women

• Street Haven• Florence Booth

• Gateway

• Maxwell Meighen

• Native Men's Shelter

• Christie Ossington Men's Shelter

• Women's Residence

• Cornerstone Baptist

And there are also a few street teams, walking the streets giving blankets, gloves, toiletries, and other essentials to homeless that do not have the opportunity to stay in shelters.I will take plenty of picture to share, and show how much we helped. So keep reading! If you are interested in making a donation feel free to contact me for more information.

Backstabbing!

We've all done it at least a few times in our life but seriously once you hit grade 12 I think it's time to stop! I can't believe it though that at 17 years old a girl can just say to someone that after a long time of having a super close friendship with a person, she asks herself everyday why she's even friends with such person. I mean when you hear such things behind someone's back would you tell them, especially if that person was also your best friend, I know I would okay well I did. I don't know if I did the right choice or not but backstabbing is stupid and hurts! What would you have done in my shoes?

My Story:
One day, during lunch, I went to talk to my friend very quickly leaving my other friend alone for a second but when I turned around to talk to this guy that I needed to show something to, my friend I went to talk to, said to this one girl, that asked her why are you even friends with her, that she doesn't even know and she asks herself that everyday. I just walked away to my friend I left alone very quickly because they were talking about her. And I told my friend right away and she was upset to the point that she was so mad. Ever since then the two of them haven't talked to each other and I haven't talked to the girl that said that either because she really hurt my best friend's feelings. I think she did anyways.
But still I don't really know if I did the right thing by telling her or not I just find that backstabbing is stupid and even now the girl that said that keeps on saying mean things about my friend!

Halloween Weekend!

My Halloween weekend all started Saturday the 31st at 7:30 am in Oakridge's. When I first got there we ate breakfast afterwards we went to the store to go get candy, chips and dried corn. At around 2h30 pm we started to decorate the house inside and out, set the strobe lights, backlights, fog machines and install the loudspeakers for the music. At 5 pm we stared to get dressed and turn it all on (light, music and atmospheric fog). I was so excited to scare and give out candy to the kids and parents that stopped by! Are house was the scariest of the neighbourhood, car where stopping in front to come and visit are surprisingly scary house. I am certainly looking forward to next year's Halloween, to create a bigger a scarier haunted house.

Here's a video of what our house looked like.
Hope you enjoy!

Halloween Costumes Since 1992.

My first costume on my first night of Halloween, shortly after I was born I dressed up as a Lady Bug till the age of three. Then my grandma made me a pumpkin costume. Afterwards about 4 years later my grandma made me a clown costume. Shortly after I wanted to change to something else but my grandma moved to New Brunswick and no longer make my costumes. Therefore my mom decided to buy me a witch costume. I was stuck wearing that costume till I was in grad 9... In grad 9 I decided to make my own costume, I was a dead ballerina. Then the next year the Lady from "Sweeny todd" Miss Lovett! Finally this year I was a "Doll Serial Killer". Can't wait to make my costumes for next year.

Texting!

I am not afraid to say that I am slightly a text-aholic! Ever since I got my phone, I have been non stop texting my friends and even sometimes I text my parents because it is way cheaper than calling for one and no long distance fees so I can text my friends anywhere in the world! Of course I'm not necessarily a crazy texter because sometimes I do get annoyed and then just don't text or I get someone else to text for me! But texting is very popular now and I love using the shorter versions of the words but not everyone I text does, so when it comes to them, I rarely text them.

I usually use certain text words over others such as:
OMG=Oh My God!
LOL=Laugh out loud
BTW=By the way
TTYL=Talk to you later
CYA= See you later/soon
FYI=For your information
ILY=I like/love you
HRU=How are you
There are many other words that can be seen in texts but these are the most common ones that I use!

Girl's Night!

As I got older I've realized that many more guys have come into my life as either a friend and some as a boyfriend. I must admit the I prefer my guy friends over most of my girl friends but of course not all because I am a girl and I do have my certain group of amazing gal pals of course! It's just that when I'm not around those girls, I hang out with all guys. But considering guys are a bigger thing as we get older, I always make time to hang out with my girls! Sometimes when I hang out with my girls, some guys come along also, so technically that isn't a girls night. Although when it's only me and my girls, all we do is normal girl things. First we always just sit and gossip about random stuff, then most of the time we go tanning plus we always have an adventure getting there because if we don't take the bus then we walk and many times the bus goes out of business so we have to wait longer for the bus. Anyway, after tanning, we either do a little shopping then go to a convenience store or grocery store to buy some junk food, such as, chips, candy(Mmmm...candy), some random and different kind of juice that we've never had before, and also energy drink. Once we do all that we go back to whoever's house and watch one of the thousands of movies my friend Kayle owns then we talk and finally just laugh are bums off. What makes these nights special is that we have so much fun and never stop laughing!!

Nicknames!

Nicknames, definition an invented name for somebody or something, used humorously or affectionately instead of the real name like baby, hun, honey, etc. Sometimes when used humorously though, it can be an inside joke between only a certain amount of people so in which case I find that people shouldn't necessarily use those nicknames unless you're around people who also understand your joke but might not be actually involved in such jokes. So when it's a joke be careful where and when you use it. But nicknames can se a shortening of a name or something that sounds like the person's name! Those are the kind of nicknames I use! Especially for my friends.

Such as...
Kayle=Kay, Kayl, Kaykay, Kaysey, Kase, and even Kayster!
Patrique=Pat, Patty, Patty Cakes, Bobby P, Peewie and sometimes Petee.
Mathew=Mat, Matty, Chew chew, and Matchew.
Natalie=Nat or Noodles.
And sometimes even a nickname can be as simple as their last name! I like using nicknames because if I know someone with the same exact name, I can distinguish them by using nicknames!

Projects

I have a hard time keeping up with school work because I get distracted so easily. I usually wait until the last minute to truly do my work. It's wrong I know but seriously I can't concentrate on one thing for more than 10 minutes. I have so many projects that are late because of this. It's also not only the fact that I can't keep concentrated but also my little brother is such a little annoying kid that my parents are always getting me to the chores, babysit little kids on the block, go to the store for them, watch my little brother when he goes to his friends house. Seriously I rarely have time for school work and then my parents always wonder why I never hand in my stuff on time. I tell them but still they never give me the time of day and now that I'm in grade 12 I stress myself so much more. But I know that I can do it, I just have to work my bum off and start trying my best to keep concentrated. Plus with the help of my friends telling me to keep working, hopefully it will make my brain start focusing on no more than one thing!

Winner Winner Turkey Dinner!

This weekend like you all know was Thanksgiving. I spent the weekend at my boyfriend's house, which they celebrated Turkey day at his cousin's place on Sunday evening. The way they celebrate Thanksgiving is different than the way I celebrate it at home; there was a Italian twist! because they started the feast by eating pasta. Then of course the famous and delicious turkey with stuffing, and
then followed the Italian pastries with the famous Italian espresso. This is a version of thanksgiving I could get used to!

17th birthday!

Today the October 6 2009 is my seventeeth birthday, yes I'm finally seventeen. Yes that's right seventeen!! I find that when you say oh my goodness I'm sixteen then all of the sudden you're like oh my goodness I'm seventeen, it seems like a big leap. I don't know it just seems like I was in elementary school just the other day. But it's actually been five years and a quarter. I can't believe just the fact that I'm seventeen and about to graduate. Today I didn't do much because it was a school day and not only that, I had rehearsal for the school's christmas play. But then yet next weekend I'm going to my boyfriend's house for thanksgiving and also to celebrate my birthday with him. Today considering it's my birthday, I thought a lot about my future and all and came to realize that in three years I'm going to be twenty years old and most likely living on my own and hopefully have a fulfilling career. It's scary to think about how much closer we're getting to our full fledge on going future with a family and a job, etc... I am of course looking forward to the birthdays to come but as I get closer to them, I'm scared to grow older and have to do everything for myself and eventually support others.

To be or Not to be ......

Thursday, September 17th, 2009. During my day, I heard that there was auditions for a Christmas school play, a musical. Near the end of the day my best friend convinced me to auditioning for it, because I’ve been talking about it all day and how I wanted to make the cut. The reason why I thought it was so important of auditioning is because I’ve realised that I can act and sing and I decided to show the whole world… well at lease my school mates and public. And since that audition, I’ve been walking in circles wondering if I will get a role in our school first Christmas musical . I’m actually dying to know, and as soon as those name go up on that board, I’ll be there as fast as a lighting bolt! It’s the perfect opportunity to shine! On my next entry I will let you know if I made the cut and I’ll tell you all about the role I am playing!

Good-bye sun! HELLO... Tanning bed!

Yesterday I passed In front of my tanning salon, and since then I’ve bin wanting to go tanning. Why, because I realized that my tan was slowly fading away. I miss summer so much, the hot and bright sun, the beautiful blue skies and a well deserved break from school. Well the time that the sun won’t be out, I’ll go tanning at ‘Palm Beach Mega Tan’. But I’d rather tan in a tanning bed over tanning outside because, firstly, you receive a higher concentration of vitamin D; secondly the rays aren’t as harmful as natural sunlight. Thirdly, the tanning lotion that is mandatory to wear so you don’t burn has ingredients that help skin heal, in case of scars and such, also the lotions are mainly hypoallergenic so it most likely won’t irritate your skin, if you have sensitive skin. And the winning reason is that you guaranty an even and beautiful tan. With tanning becoming an easy and quick process you could make anyone jealous.
Now that I'm all tanned I am heading to "Rib Fest"! Stay tuned for my next entry where I'll tell you all about it!

Henna TATTOOS

Sunday, September 6th, 2009, I went to a demolition derby in Port Perry. Other then the demolition of cars there was rides, a petting zoo, music, horse races, FOOD STANDS, cowboys ;) and henna tattoos. Talking about henna, it’s a semi-permanent tattoo that will stay at least a month with right care. By putting baby powder and Vaseline after you shower. You can get two different colors of henna brown and black. I personally prefer the black henna, because it fades away slower and doesn’t turn into a gross orange color. If you do not take care of your henna tattoos you may be left with a light yellow color of the design you may have got. When I was at the stand I was looking at all the design for henna, there were pretty ones and ones that in my mind I told myself "like who would get that". But if I could of I would have got most of them. But of course I couldn’t. Henna's are really none expensive they may range in the price of 5 to 20 $ depending of the size and what motif. To add on I got two that weekend, one on my foot and the other one my upper back. Both are black henna and have a flower intergrated into the design. The one on my foot cost me 10$ and the one on my back was 8$. Eighteen dollars for a henna tattoo is good because I’ve been to many fairs and for one it could cost you up to 20$ to 30$ each. What a crazy price for a thing that may last only a month or more with proper care. I love henna tattoos because it gave me an idea of the tattoo that I want in the future. But for now I’ll stick with my henna tattoos until I’m old enough to get a tattoo.
